The Nissan Versa is a benchmark for value priced subcompact cars. Introduced in 2007, the sedan version is the roomiest car in its class, gets up to 40 mpg, and it is the least expensive new car you can buy in the US. Its well-equipped base price is just $11,990. Of course a slew of luxury options are available at additional cost. The Versa is available as either a hatchback or sedan. The base model has a manual transmission, thought the optional CVT gets slightly better gas mileage. Power comes from a 1.6L 4 cyl motor. It will not break any land speed records or win any drag races. But like Rolls Royce, its power is “sufficient”.
