Audi 80 became the successor of the Audi F103 series, the models of which – Audi 60, 75, 80 and Super 90 – were designated by the number of horsepower. The name Audi 80 was used for the whole model range and in 1994 it was replaced by A4.

2002 Audi A4 Quattro Problems

The second-generation Audi A4 was offered as a sedan and estate, and then later as a two-door convertible. It came with a vast range of gasoline and diesel engines, and was offered with two-wheel drive or Audi’s quattro four-wheel drive system. In 2004 the whole range underwent a significant upgrade in styling and engineering, with revised suspension and new FSI (Fuel Stratified Injection) engines now fitted. Manual and automatic transmissions were offered, including Audi’s Multitronic transmission, which received much praise. There was also a high-performance S4 version, and then and even quicker RS4 sedan, which spawned estate (Avant) and convertible variants.
